This collection starts with source-reported club foundation years. It is a growing country-by-country archive, not complete world coverage or an official federation service. Every displayed record includes its source in the details drawer.

Source and license

Founding-year records use openfootball/clubs, revision ae3800227c449447b3a337fc0aac79a8f02f4c8b, available under CC0 1.0 Universal. These are source-reported years and source reference names; historical founding names, football-section dates and continuous legal identity have not been independently established. No source-reported date is silently invented for undated clubs.

Source file, line locator, revision and transformation are retained with the data. Source-dataset review is not official certification or an assertion that every record was independently checked against a primary archive. Known conflicting records are excluded from publication pending further evidence.

Dates, names and gaps

A source-reported founding year is displayed at year precision. A catalog reference name helps identify the source entry; it does not establish the name used at founding, a football section’s exact start or continuous legal identity. Undated entries are not given invented dates. The explorer starts in 1863, so earlier source dates are outside the visible timeline.

A blank year describes this collection’s gaps, not the absence of football history. The current release does not publish title awards. Computed match points leaders are not treated as champions or displayed in the honours gallery.

Artwork and reuse

No club or competition crests are imported in this collection. Neutral monograms are interface placeholders, not historic emblems or claims about historic club colours. The source dedication does not clear third-party trademarks or artwork. This application’s code, branding and unrelated materials are not automatically CC0 because selected factual source data is.
